• The first survey in 1992 resulted in various muck removal projects after unacceptable levels of contaminants in the following Brevard County "caution" areas: Port Canaveral (metals); Barge Canal (metals); Cocoa segment of the lagoon (metals and organics); the Eau Gallie-Melbourne-Palm Bay segment (metals and organics); and the very southern end of Banana River (organics). Organics can include petroleum and plastic byproducts.
